Dumpers
Dumper Hire Manchester — Wheeled and Tracked Options for Every Site
Moving spoil, aggregate, and materials around a site by hand takes time and labour. Manchester Diggers hires wheeled and tracked dumpers for hire across Greater Manchester — a Thwaites 1 tonne for firm ground and hard standings, and a JCB HTD-5 tracked dumper for sites where a wheeled machine would struggle.
Choose the Right Dumper for Your Site

Wheeled dumper
Thwaites 1 Tonne Dumper
The workhorse choice for most sites with solid ground, hardstandings, or compacted surfaces. The Thwaites 1t is manoeuvrable, easy to operate, and handles the material movement that would otherwise eat up hours of manual labour. Suited to groundworks, landscaping, garden clearance, and general site material movement.

Thwaites 1.5 Tonne Power Swivel
The Thwaites 1.5 Tonne Power Swivel is a wheeled site dumper with a skip that rotates 90° left and right — allowing the operator to tip loads into skips, trenches, or stockpiles that a straight-tip machine couldn't reach without repositioning. Where access is tight and manoeuvrability matters, the power swivel removes a constraint that would otherwise slow the work down. Powered by a Yanmar Stage V engine with hydrostatic transmission, it's easy to drive, pulls well in all ground conditions, and carries 1,500 kg per load.

Thwaites 2 Tonne Dumper
The Thwaites 2 Tonne Front Tip is a wheeled site dumper carrying 2,000 kg per load, suited to medium-volume spoil removal, aggregate movement, and material distribution on residential and commercial sites. It steps up from the 1.5 tonne machines where payload and volume matter, while remaining compact enough for sites where access limits what can get in. Powered by an 18.1 kW Yanmar engine with hydrostatic transmission and the Kinglink articulated chassis, it pulls well across varied ground conditions.

High-capacity front tip dumper
Thwaites 3 Tonne Dumper
The Thwaites 3 Tonne Front Tip is the highest-capacity wheeled dumper in the Manchester Diggers fleet. Carrying 3,000 kg and 1,680 litres heaped per cycle, it's built for high-volume spoil removal, bulk material movement, and groundworks where output over a full day is the priority. Same Yanmar engine and Kinglink chassis as the 2 tonne, with the larger skip and wider track to handle greater volume.

Tracked dumper
JCB HTD-5
Tracked dumpers go where wheeled machines cannot. If your site has soft ground, muddy conditions, slopes, or loose material underfoot, the JCB HTD-5 maintains traction and stability that a wheeled dumper simply won't have. The high tip function gives you the option to tip directly into a skip or over a height without building ramps. If you've ever watched a wheeled dumper spin out or sink into soft ground, this is the machine to hire instead.

Wheeled vs Tracked: Which Do You Need?
For most sites with a solid base — concrete, compacted hardcore, tarmac — the wheeled Thwaites is the right choice. It's more manoeuvrable in tight spaces and straightforward to operate.
If any of the following apply to your site, book the tracked JCB instead:
- Ground is soft, muddy, or waterlogged
- You're working on a slope or uneven gradient
- The surface underfoot is loose fill, clay, or recently disturbed soil
- You've had ground conditions cause problems with wheeled plant before
